COPYCAT TAGALONGS Bar Cookies



A delightful recipe for homemade bar cookies inspired by the famous Tagalongs cookies. These scrumptious treats feature a buttery cookie base topped with creamy peanut butter and rich chocolate, making them irresistible for peanut butter and chocolate lovers.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy

Add the vanilla extract and salt to the bowl, and mix well

Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the mixture, mixing until just combined

Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown

Remove from the oven and let it cool completely

Once the cookie base is cooled, spread peanut butter evenly over the top

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semisweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth

Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread it out with a spatula

Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or place the dish in the refrigerator for faster setting

Once the chocolate is firm, cut the cookies into bars and serve
